More Snow and Cold in Nauvoo.....

Thought for the week:
"If you only pray when you're in Trouble, "YOU'RE IN TROUBLE".

Another week of history breaking weather in the Midwest. We woke up to another 8 inches of snow this Sunday morning. Rudi is like a little boy, he can't wait to get on his snow gear and start shoveling everyone's sidewalks. I think he has a contest going with our three neighbors across the street to see who can get up the earliest and shovel who's sidewalk the first. Sounds like fun. NOT! What boys will do for fun. We have Sacrament at 8:00 a.m. so they really start early. I'm grateful for their efforts especially in my behalf so I won't slip on the ice.

Last Monday Rudi and I went to Quincey to the cardiologist. The Dr. wasn't happy that the surgeon didn't feel that putting in a stent in my artery was going to help with the high blood pressure, so he made an appointment in Springfield Illinois with another surgeon for a second opinion. So I guess we'll be heading to Springfield which is two hours away on March 21st. The cardiologist says I'll lose my left kidney eventually if I don't get the surgery so its back to the drawing board again. I think we'll make a day of it when we go and see the sights of Lincoln's hometown. It seems a long way to go for an opinion and possible surgery in the near future. Life is just full of ups and downs and surprises! Truthfully I'd just like to forget the whole thing and serve in the temple where life is quiet and peaceful, I guess that's what heaven will be like, I hope!
After the doctors appointment on Monday we went grocery shopping at, where else but Walmart. Then on to dinner at Culvers and a movie. We saw Monuments Men. We really enjoyed it.

Tuesday we spent a wonderful day together in the temple. Rudi is an ordnance working on Tuesdays only. Its fun to work with him at least one day a week. We got to go on a session together and eat lunch together. He looks so nice in his white suit [thanks Hugo]. He really cleans up nice!

Kathy was the presenter and I was the receiver one time during the day. Kathy was very shocked to see me and became speechless. Can you imagine Kathy being speechless, no, I can't either. It is one of the very nice touches of being able to work together. There are a lot of very touching things that occur each day. During any day when things get busy I am often asked to help in the baptistry or on the vail or sealing sessions. Wonderful break of my day.

On Thursday I was a follower on a session. We had a sister who was in a wheelchair on the session. She was accompanied by her two daughters. She was on the front row so as the session began I noticed that they had to assist her a lot. When I gave her the tokens I felt so touched that she smiled at me as if she knew me. I had to lift her hand and gently help her to do the best she could. Her two daughters were so kind and patient with her that tears came to my eyes when I visualized my own daughters helping me someday at the temple. She seemed so happy to be able to be there and enjoy the spirit even though she was unable to do anything for herself. After the session I went into the Celestial Room and told them what an honor it was for me to assist their mother in this sacred ordinance. We all got tears in our eyes and gave each other hugs. This sweet sister still wanted to go to the temple just one more time. It really touched my heart and made me even more committed to serve in my Fathers House with honor and love for all patrons. This is just one special experience I've had so far in the temple and I wanted my family and friends to share in my happiness and joy while on my mission.

Saturday night after our shift in the temple we went with another couple, the Bassett's, to Burlington to eat lobster again. If we're not careful we'll be swimming back to Utah if we keep this weekly event up. It was so yummy and fun to visit with friends.

Today after church and choir practice we hosted three other couples for the Break the Fast dinner. We had the Wilson's from Mapleton, the Moller's from Burley Idaho, and the Prince's from New Mexico to dinner. It was so fun and relaxing when everyone brings something. I did Hawaiian Haystacks and they brought salad, rolls, and dessert. What a varied group of people from a Judge, a teacher, and a maintenance person at 7-Eleven. The conversation was so interesting. Love getting to know these missionaries and their backgrounds.

We look forward to the coming month of activities both social and spiritual. We have Stake Conference in two weeks and General Conference shortly after. We will also be commemorating the Relief Society here in Nauvoo by wearing Period dresses and going to the Red Brick Store for a special presentation on March 17th. Rudi and the other men missionaries will be going to the John Deere Tractor Factory in Moline while all the sisters are at the R.S. celebration. We also have a Missionary Ball next Saturday night at the Cultural Hall on the third floor ballroom where Joseph and Emma danced many times together. Looking forward to that special experience. We also have a Buffet Dinner and Movie Night planned at the Old Nauvoo Hotel. Lots of historic experiences and memories to be made!

As you can tell we don't hurt for things to do. No wonder I'm always tired! But I wouldn't miss a thing.

Well it's getting late and we want to get this email off. Have a great week and enjoy your own special activities. We look forward to your emails.

We love and appreciate your prayers and support.
